Milani Colour Statement Lipsticks Nudes and Browns- Review, photo, swatches #paintedlipsproject#
Milani is a drugstore brand that came out with the Milani color statement lipsticks. It’s a formula with 30 different shades and 6
textures ranging from vinyl, metallic, cream, shimmer, pearl, to matte
finishes.
The lipsticks are creamy and lightweight, moisturizing to
the lips and are highly pigmented.
The lipsticks come in gold packaging with the shade colour and
name depicted at the bottom of the tube.
The lipstick tubes come sealed, made in USA. The lipsticks
are very smooth, easy to apply. give good colour pay off with a watermelon scent
that is not too overpowering and wears off in time.
About the lipsticks the Milani website says;
“Bellissimo!
You know how some (lesser) lipsticks look one way in the store, and then completely different in your bathroom mirror?
Color Statement is the antithesis of that. A super-luxe, grown-up girl
lipstick, it delivers true instant colour in a single swipe. Laced with vitamins
A and C to hydrate and nourish, this collection is all about options: Corals
and Reds, Orchids and Plums, Nudes, and Pinks. Trust us, you’ll want an entire
wardrobe.”
These neutral shades work for a variety of skin tones and are
quite flattering, range from pale nudes with brown and pink undertones to
metallic golds and deep brown with berry tones. However they would work best
with a lip liner (especially the paler nudes and browns)
For the purpose of this post I used a warm brown lip liner to balance it a against my skin tone while at the same time aiming to introduce the least possible interference with colour on my lips. On a given day however I would love to combine these lipsticks with different types of liners shades of brown and nude lip liners would look fantastic with them!
They last about 4 hours (a bit less with drinking and eating)
wearing off evenly over time, the deeper shades being more pigmented lasting
longer.
The roll
call for the nudes and browns include;
·
Nude crème
·
Dulce caramelo
·
Candied toffees
·
Teddy bare
·
Chocolate berries
·
Double espresso
·
Bronze beauty
·
D'oro
Of these, I purchased and will be reviewing the
following:
Nude Crème-
This is
described as a nude pink cream lipstick. It’s a very
lovely muted pink. It would be very difficult for
deeper skin tones to pull this off without some form of lip liner and even at that the lipstick would need to be applied sparingly. I sometimes also use it in the center of the lips in combination with dark lipsticks as a lip highlight or for ombre effect.
It can accentuate the lines on the lips so I tend to apply and often wear with a lipgloss for a lovely nude lip look. I like that it has a pinky undertone
making it more wearable while not looking ghostly!
Pretty natural- it’s a gorgeous creamy natural pink shade that makes the lips look full and pouty. It is creamy and is flattering to different skin tones, with mauvy undertones. lasting about 4hrs before a need to re apply.

Rose Femme- warm brown rose toned lipstick. It is like Pretty natural but with more brown undertones promising to be flattering to a wider variety of skin tones.
Teddy Bare-This
is a brownish pink creamy lipstick. A MLBB (my lips but better) shade which is
particularly creamy and oh! Applies like butter. Love it!
Chocolate
berries - This is a berry toned deep brown creamy lipstick. Its name says it all. It’s a brown lipstick shade mixed with some sort
of berry shade.
Deeper skin toned women will be comfortable pulling this off
while it may be challenging for much paler skin tones It is a highly pigmented
deep vampy shade, definitely not for the faint hearted! it lasts over 4hrs despite the creamy formula because it is highly pigmented and wears off to leave behind a stain.
PROS
·
Good quality at the price point comparable to higher
end brands
·
Nice watermelon scent not too overpowering
·
Highly pigmented
·
Lots of variety to choose from different shades
and finishes
CONS
·
Can transfer (maybe the creamy texture is to
blame).
·
Some shades can be difficult to find
·
Gold packaging attracts finger prints
P.S
I apologise guys for my dry-looking "pore-ified" skin, the weather was not just "werkin" for me on that day!
Overall I think these lipsticks are great budget friendly option with
good colour pay off, the paler colours however require a bit of working in
on more pigmented lips and may also slide around a bit more.
